It’s true there are super reliable systems which perform all sorts of tasks critical to life and science as we know them without crashing or being hacked. Most of them aren’t individually operating millions of consumer-grade appliances, however.

On a related note: Honda recently sent me a new recall notice for my airbags–which I was supposedly already on the waiting list to have replaced. The concept of automakers’ denial–acceptance–recall process crossed with Windows Update doesn’t exactly inspire feelings of joy and confidence, either.
